Bridalplasty
Every woman wants to look her best on her wedding day; after all, wedding photographs are often showcased in her home for decades after the big day. A good percentage of the wedding budget is easily spent on the bride's appearance: the perfect dress (sometimes two!), shoes, accessories, undergarments, alterations, custom bustles, manicures and pedicures, eyebrow waxing, a professional up do, make up, facials, jewelry, teeth whitening procedures, a personal trainer, diet foods, and even colored contacts. But as the TV show "Bridalplasty" on the E! Network demonstrated, plastic surgery is a growing trend among women who will be tying the knot. If you're thinking about undergoing breast enlargement before saying "I do," here are some words of advice.
Schedule The Procedure Many Months Before The Wedding
In fact, you should ideally be done with recovery before you shop for your wedding dress. It's easier – not to mention less expensive – to have a dress made smaller as opposed to bigger. Plus, if the results of the surgery aren't exactly what you had hoped for (at best) or catastrophic (at worst), you will have plenty of time for revisional surgery. You also don't want to have any restrictions on how much fun you can have at your reception or on your honeymoon by scheduling the two dates too close together.
Discuss Your Plans For Children With Your Fiancé
If you both think having kids will be part of your future together and you are considering breastfeeding, this will be an important factor when deciding among incisions and implant placement as well as whether to have the surgery at all. Pregnancy and lactation can also cause major changes in your breasts that may in and of themselves necessitate breast lift or other “mommy makeover” procedures in the future.
Make Sure You Are Doing It For The Right Reasons
If you aren't excited about the idea, don't get breast implants simply to make your other half happy. You will be making changes to your body that can be expensive over the long run (Learn more about Cost). If breast implants are a deal breaker for the guy in your life, you may want to think about reconsidering the marriage; if his interest in you is based solely on your physical appearance, chances are you will spend your entire life and who knows how much money trying to keep his interest.
Consider Your Short- and Long-Term Budgets
One of the topics that couples fight about most is finances. Even if you are lucky enough to have someone helping you pay the bills for the ceremony, reception, and honeymoon, make sure your future husband is on board with your decision to get breast implants. Evaluate the long-term financial outlook for both of your careers and whether you would still be able to afford revisional, replacement, and removal surgeries (as well as imaging every two years if you get silicone implants) if one of you were to lose your job, especially after kids are added to the equation.
